Trained Pest Control Technicians: How We Prepare Our Team

Trained technicians make the difference between treatment that solves a pest problem and indiscriminate spraying that lets it return weeks later. The same pesticide can produce different results depending on who applies it and where. Every Sky Star Environmental Services technician therefore completes training before working independently in a home or facility. This page describes the program's content.

Initial Training

New technicians complete a program of [Number of hours] hours, combining theory with supervised fieldwork. They are not assigned independent visits until [Requirement for independent work] has been met.

Safety and Protective Equipment

Technicians learn when to use each item of protective equipment and how to check that it is fit for use:

  • Chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles.
  • Masks and respirators suitable for the treatment.
  • Protective clothing and how to remove it without contaminating the hands.
  • First aid for pesticide contact with the skin or eyes.

They also learn how to prepare premises before treatment: moving food, covering aquariums, and explaining how long the household must stay away.

Handling Pesticides: Storage, Transport, and Mixing

  • Reading the pesticide label and following its application rate, without adding extra "just in case."
  • Storing products in sealed containers away from heat, especially important during Hejaz summers when vehicle temperatures rise.
  • Transporting products in a dedicated vehicle area separate from the passenger compartment.
  • Managing spills and disposing of empty containers safely.

We use pesticides registered and approved for public health use. Details are available on our Pesticide Labels page.

Pest Identification

Treatment begins with diagnosis. Technicians learn to distinguish German from American cockroaches and termites from ants, and to recognize signs such as droppings, shed skins, mud tubes, and gnaw marks. These findings determine the treatment and where it is applied. See some of these differences in our Pest Library.

Customer Service

Technicians learn to explain their work before starting, give clear aftercare instructions, and answer questions without making promises beyond their authority. They are also trained to respect household privacy and act professionally in facilities.

Ongoing Training

Products change and new problems arise, so training continues after recruitment through [Annual number of sessions or hours], reviews of difficult cases with supervisors, and updates before busy periods such as summer and Hajj and Umrah seasons.

Certificates

After completing the program, technicians receive [Certificate name] from [Awarding body].
