Signs of the presence of scorpions and snakes
Scorpions do not leave a clear trace like cockroaches do, so the signs depend on observation and location:
- A scorpion inside the bathroom or kitchen at night, often near drains or cold floor corners.
- Scorpions under loose stones and tiles when lifted in the garden or around the pool.
- Frequent sightings near the wall or outer gate in the summer after sunset.
- The abundance of small insects around the outdoor lighting is food for scorpions.
- A shed snake skin near piles of firewood, warehouses, or tree trunks.
- Traces of undulating creep on the soft sand in rest areas and farms.
- Rodents around the area are among the main things that attract snakes.
Why are scorpions and snakes so common in the cities of Hijaz?
The rocky and desert nature of the Hijaz region is a natural habitat for these creatures, and urban expansion is bringing houses closer to them:
- The neighborhoods adjacent to the mountains and valleys in Madinah and Taif, where scorpions move from the open ground to the walls.
- AlUla and its farms: The lava fields, rocks, and open farms provide many hiding places for scorpions and snakes.
- Rest areas on the outskirts of cities: they remain closed for days, so the scorpions settle there undisturbed.
- Long summer: Scorpions are most active on hot nights, and they seek out moisture inside bathrooms and kitchens.
- Coastal Yanbu: The humidity and irrigated gardens attract insects, and consequently scorpions that feed on them.
- Construction and excavation work nearby brings scorpions out of their hiding places in the ground.
Damage and Risks
Scorpion stings are usually painful, and most cases resolve without serious complications. However, some scorpions in the region are more venomous than others, and the risk is higher for children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses. Therefore, every sting is treated seriously and sought medical attention.
Snakes generally avoid humans and bite in self-defense when cornered or captured. Some are non-venomous, and some are venomous; it is not always possible for a layperson to confidently distinguish between them.
General first aid for bites
- Calm down and reduce movement, and have the injured person sit or lie down.
- Call an ambulance on 997 and go to the nearest hospital without delay.
- Remove rings and bracelets near the bite site before swelling occurs.
- Do not cut or suck on the bite, and do not apply ice directly or a pressure bandage that cuts off blood circulation.
- If possible, take a picture of the scorpion or snake from a safe distance, and do not try to catch it.
This is general information and does not replace a doctor; treatment is determined by the medical staff.
Our step-by-step method
- Inspection: We walk around the building, fence and garden, identifying hiding places, entry points and food sources such as insects and rodents.
- Shelter removal: We recommend removing stones, wood, and debris attached to the walls, and we advise on arranging storage areas.
- Perimeter barrier: We spray a strip around the building's foundations and fence with a residual pesticide, and treat external cracks and openings.
- Sealing openings: We identify door gaps, air conditioning and drainage openings that need to be sealed, and we install what is necessary as part of the service or recommend it.
- Controlling food sources: We control insects around the building and, if rodents are present, treat them through rodent control, as they attract snakes.
- Removing snakes: We rely on removing their shelter and food sources and sealing any openings. If a snake is found inside the premises, we handle it by removing it with specialized tools, without endangering anyone.
- Report: We deliver a report of the processed sites and recommendations, which is saved in the client portal.
Treatment by Location
| Location | Method | Material Type | When will it be safe? |
| Building foundations and fence | Spraying a perimeter strip | residual pesticide | After 3–4 hours and the spray has dried |
| Garden and planting beds | Spray on stones and edges | residual pesticide | After 3–4 hours, and 6 hours for children and pets |
| Bathrooms and drains | Spray inside and around the drain openings | residual pesticide | After 3–4 hours |
| Storage rooms and guard rooms | Spray the corners and cracks | residual pesticide | After 3–4 hours with ventilation |
| Open farms and rest areas | Barrier around buildings and treatment of hiding places | residual pesticide | After 3–4 hours, and away from the crops |
| Snake habitat | Remove the shelter and seal the openings | pesticide-free | immediately |
Prices for scorpion control and snake removal
| Property Type | Approximate price range |
| small house or ground floor | 230 –300 SAR |
| Villa with garden | 300–600 SAR |
| Private leisure property | 400–800 SAR |
| farm | According to the area after inspection |
The price varies depending on the area, the length of the fence, the number of buildings, and the concentration of hiding places around it. Calculate your estimate using the price calculator.
Before and after service
Before the service: Remove children's toys and pet bowls from the garden, and close any exposed water tanks. Inform the technician of any sightings of scorpions or snakes.
After the service: Observe the 3–4-hour evacuation period for adults and 6 hours for infants, pregnant women, older adults, people with respiratory conditions, and pets. Do not wash the perimeter treatment strip or wipe treated areas for 24 hours, and postpone watering beds beside the wall for one day.
Refer to the pre- and post-pest control instructions for details.
Warranty
Our scorpion control service includes a 30-day guarantee. If scorpions are seen again inside the treated building during the guarantee period, we will return and treat it free of charge, provided you follow the instructions and implement the recommendations for removing the scorpion habitat. Because snakes are mobile creatures in open environments, the guarantee covers peripheral treatment only and does not prevent snakes from moving around a large farm. Details are available on the guarantee page.
Practical Home Prevention Tips
- Lift stones, firewood, and building materials away from the walls and store them on a raised platform.
- Install a seal under the exterior doors and close the gaps around the air conditioning and drainage pipes.
- Use tight-fitting covers for drains, as scorpions often enter through them.
- Reduce outdoor lighting near doors or use yellow lighting, as light attracts insects that scorpions feed on.
- Shake out shoes and clothing left outdoors before wearing them, especially at private leisure properties.
- Cut the thick grass around the fences, and do not leave trash and food scraps that attract rodents.
- Do not try to catch or kill the snake; stay away from it, keep children away, observe it from a distance, and contact a professional.
These steps greatly reduce scorpion entry. However, they are insufficient if the house is adjacent to rocky ground or an open farm, or if sightings are frequent inside rooms. In such cases, specialized scorpion control with a perimeter barrier and ongoing monitoring are necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When are scorpions most active?
They are active at night, and their activity increases during the hot summer months. During the day they hide under stones, wood, and in crevices, so we treat their hiding places, not just the open areas.
Q: Does spraying kill scorpions instantly?
Scorpions are more resilient than many insects. The perimeter barrier prevents them from crossing and affects them when they pass over it, which is why we combine it with sealing the openings and removing the shelter.
Q: Do you kill snakes?
Our goal is to remove, not kill. We remove shelter and food, seal openings, and if a snake is found inside, we remove it with specialized tools.
Q: Is there a snake repellent that I can spray myself?
Commonly used repellents are inconsistent in their effectiveness. It's more effective to remove stones and firewood, control rodents, and seal any openings.
Q: Is the treatment safe for livestock and crops on the farm?
We spray around buildings and warehouses, away from crops and feed areas, and we determine with the farm owner the duration for keeping livestock away from the treated areas.
Q: How often do I need treatment?
Homes often require pre-summer treatment and follow-up. Rest houses and farms benefit from the Seasonal Protection Plan with regular visits.
